The margarita, a symbol of Tex-Mex culture and culinary heritage, is steeped in rich history with deep Texas roots. While its exact origins remain a blend of legend and lore, one popular story places its creation in 1938 in El Paso, Texas, where bartender Carlos “Danny” Herrera is said to have crafted it for a guest who was allergic to most spirits but enjoyed tequila. Another tale credits Margarita Sames, a Dallas socialite, who famously mixed the cocktail for her friends during a vacation in Acapulco in 1948. Over the years, Texas has embraced the margarita as its own, blending innovation and tradition. Today, it remains a beloved staple, celebrated for its vibrant flavors and the sense of festivity it brings to every gathering.
