Join us this summer for a unique tequila experience. We will be featuring 12 interesting tequilas and mezcals. Come learn about them along with history and fun facts of these spirits from the south. We will also have 5 featured cocktails handcrafted by our bar.
As early as the 16th century, Aztec tribes were experimenting with agave spirits by creating pulque wine. After the Spanish conquistadors ran out of brandy, they began distilling pulque into a more potent liquor creating the first ever tequila and mezcal spirits.
- Tequila is primarially from Jalisco, Mexico. Mezcal is produced in different states of Mexico.
- Quality tequila is made exclusively from Blue Agave. Mezcal can be made with upwards of 30 varieties of agave.
- The production process for mezcal
is different from tequila. With mezcal, there is an underground baking process that imparts the smoky flavor which is not present in tequila.
We are not doctors but we drink a lot of tequila. It is said that tequila lowers blood sugar and cholesterol. The benefit of the agave plant is that it triggers insulin production in the blood stream and also lowers triglycerides and possibly cholesterol! Drink up...responsibly.
